Robert E. Wahlers, MS, CFRE is the Vice President of Philanthropy at AdventHealth Foundation in Orlando, FL where he is leading the fundraising efforts for the AdventHealth Cancer Institute. Prior to AdventHealth, Robert was the Vice President of Development for Meridian Health Affiliated Foundations where he oversaw the gift planning, annual giving and grant development programs for the eight hospitals in the Hackensack Meridian Health System. Robert has over 27 years of experience in fundraising, including working for Virtua Foundation, the American Cancer Society and the Boy Scouts of America. Robert has raised more than $100 million thus far in his career.
Robert has presented to audiences from 5 to 5,000 at International, National and Regional Conferences and is the author of three books on charitable gift planning and won the AFP Skystone Partners Research Award for his book titled, The Philanthropic Planning Companion. Robert is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University in their Masters of Nonprofit Management Program where he teaches Major & Leadership Giving and Fundraising Fundamentals. He has also been a guest lecturer at New York University, Rice University, and Kean University.
